BackRoads Run Club

From beginners to experienced runners looking to improve their personal bests. BackRoads has an open door policy where everyone is welcome at any point in the year. BackRoads Run Club members will receive training programs and organized coaching to optimize their success.

Free Social Runs Every Thursday at 6pm

Bring a friend & join us every Thursday at 6PM for a free social run, 5k-10K routes will be provided, all paces welcome. Post run we love to socialize in our Taproom, where we offer craft beer, kombucha, coffee and more. See you Thursday!

Spring Rookie Program

This is a great program for the beginner runner or someone returning from injury or a longer break. The gentle, progressive training implements intervals with running and walking that help you complete a 5 km run. This program works up to being able to complete a 5 km run.

  • 10 week training program starting Monday April 1st, 2024.
  • Monday and Wednesday runs at 5:45 pm
  • Instructors who provides excellent support
  • Expert advice for running and gear, including shoes
  • Positive interaction with other runners and friends
  • 10% off shoes until June 16th
  • 20% off BackRoads gear until June 16th

10km + Running Program

The BackRoads 10km + program is perfect for those looking to stay fit, or train for a 10 km or up to a half marathon. The program will prepare you to run this distance for the first time, or help you improve your personal best times. This group will run Tuesdays and Thursdays starting from the store at 6 pm and Sundays at 8 am. The program starts on Tuesday January 9th at 6pm.

  • 16 week Training Program provided to each participant (need to be able to currently run 5km)
  • $135.00 plus tax (no discount codes accepted)
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm and Sunday Long Run at 8:00 am.
  • Tuesdays will be Workouts (intervals, repeats, tempo, hills etc.).
  • Thursdays will be Social Runs (5 km – 10 km).
  • Scott Goodyear and Chris Henricks will be returning to co-lead the program.

Half Marathon and Around the Bay Running Program

This program is perfect for those who are looking to improve their half marathon speed and/or run the Around the Bay 30km. This program is designed for those who have already run a half marathon and are looking to improve their half marathon time. The Half Marathon and ATB program will start on Tuesday January 2nd and will prepare you to race the Around the Bay 30km and/or a Spring Half Marathon. If you are training towards your first half marathon we suggest joining the BackRoads 10km + program.

  • 16 week Training Program for those who can currently run 16km for a long run provided for each participant.
  • The January start of the program is 12 weeks from Around the Bay. A training plan will be provided at the beginning of December for ATB runners.
  • $155 plus tax (no discount codes accepted)
  • Tuesday Workouts: 6:00 pm – repeats/intervals, tempo, etc.
  • Thursday Social Run or Tempo Work: 6:00pm — varied distances.
  • Saturday Long Run at 8:00am

Marathon Running Program

The Full Marathon program is perfect for those looking to step up to the marathon distance or those who are experienced with the marathon and who are looking to improve their speed over the distance. This program is designed for those who can currently run the half marathon distance (21km) for a “long” run at the time of registration. The Full Marathon program will start on Monday, January 8th, 2024, at 6:00 pm and will prepare you to race a marathon in the Spring.

  • 16 week Training Program provided for each participant.
  • $155.00 plus tax (no discount codes accepted)
  • Group leader: Josh Lumani
  • Monday Workouts: 6:00 pm – repeats/intervals, tempo, etc.
  • Wednesday Tempo Work: 6:00pm (marathon specific pace work)
  • OR Wednesday Social Runs: 6:00 pm – varied distances.
  • Saturday Long Run at 8am
